New York City goes by many names; from the “Big Apple” to “Center of the Universe” to even the “City that Never Sleeps.” But all of those names implants an idea of the city being corporate without a sight of green. The fact is, although majority of the city is packed with buildings and fumes of gas from the traffic, there are portions of the city that brings us back to the time before New York City because what it is today.
With this idea in mind, we went to a variety of different locations to take photographic proof of such locations and report it to our wonderful readers. After spending days in different locations, we came up with variety of photo sets which impressed several artists and photographers throughout the city. Instead of selling these beautiful sights on photo sites, we thought why not let others see it and use it on their work and help us spread the word of the beautiful and green New York City.
This first set of photos were taken from a renown park known as Flushing Meadows Park. Since the entire package does contain over 43 images, we decided to split it up in three categories: architecture, nature and modeling. From this third and final set of images, we tried to provide you with a few modeled photos we took. By this we mean that we actually modeled in the photo, not hire someone. We thought that you could use some people in your site to post on featured sliders or even use on on blogs.
For this photo set we decided not to hire professional photographer nor professional models. Two members of Geekius (Adil Aziz and Sazzad Hossain) acted as the models and the photographers while roaming through the area. Due to time constraints, they were able to only take photos of one half of the park. Note that these are all original pictures. No modifications, alterations have been made to them. Please read the copyright notice below.
All images are in JPEG format and are 3888px by 2592px. The 7 images are archived in .zip format and is 22.06mb compressed file size. File is hosted on FileServe because of its fast download speed.
About the Flushing Meadows Park
Flushing Meadows was once a swamp and an ash dump, but now it’s the largest park in Queens and a great place to stretch your legs or ride a bike. There are also museums, sports, history, a zoo, and more to check out. The biggest draws are the Mets at Shea Stadium and tennis at the US Open, but the park can satisfy your need for an outing almost any day of the year.
At 1,255 acres, Flushing Meadows Corona Park is one and a half times the size of Manhattan’s Central Park. The park is so big that it plays host to the New York Mets at Shea Stadium and US Open Tennis, as well as to hundreds, even thousands, of visitors who come for weekend picnics, strolls, festivals, soccer games, and other activities. There are two lakes, a pitch-and-putt golf course (miniature golf), playing fields, picnic areas, and bicycle rental stands (more on park activities).
The Park is home to the Queens Museum of Art (and its amazing diorama of NYC’s five boroughs), the New York Hall of Science (an interactive science learning center), the Queens Zoo, the Queens Theatre in the Park, and the Queens Botanical Garden. The park hosts several annual festivals, including the Colombian Independence Day Celebration (one of the largest Latino events in NYC) and the Dragon Boat Festival.
